Hollywood Hills

A U.S. Air Force Colonel and his wife built this stylish pad in 1956, but as the Ebersteins aged, the house lost its original luster and was in need of updates, both inside and out.

The slate floors in the entry, the sliding steel windows and doors throughout, the ‘50s tile countertops, and the original wood cabinets were all waiting to be rediscovered.

After the cottage cheese ceilings were removed, the interior underwent a transformation. The stone slate floors, rock fireplace, and tile countertops were all acid-washed, restoring them to their original condition. The hardwood floors, which had been covered with shag carpet for decades, looked virtually new after a thorough polishing. The curved ceilings and floating rock fireplace were signature features that gave the home its mid-century authenticity and character.
